The Christmas market “DesignSchenken” is being held in Lucerne for the third time from 2-4 December 2011. A fascinating mix of Swiss-designed articles and gift ideas (for those on a budget too) as well as an exceptional Advent mood are guaranteed!
If you are seeking a very special Christmas gift, you might be about to strike lucky: that’s because the designer Christmas market is being held in Lucerne from 2-4 December 2011. It all happens in the Kornschütte in the Town Hall, the Werkstatt Neustahl in the town centre as well as 25 shops which are getting involved as “satellites”.
Organiser Franziska Bründler is looking forward to the event: “The designer Christmas market is thoroughly well-established in Lucerne and supported by many contributors. It’s great that so many shops are taking part! In fact, this year’s designer Christmas market is even bigger than last year’s, with the result that additional exhibition space was needed. This can be found in the workshop of the Lucerne design label Neustahl, where ten labels are presenting their products – “an exceptional ambiance”, reveals Franziska Bründler.
“DesignSchenken” shows a fascinating mix of Swiss design articles and selected gift ideas from young Swiss designers. This is of course the point at which the interested blog reader enquires whether there might also be something there for those with a modest budget….? There is: “You can pick up something for as little as 10 francs” says Franziska Bründler. Although you can buy more expensive things of course, the designer Christmas market is not intended to appeal solely to the well-off , but to offer something for everyone attracted by Swiss design and in search of the unusual.
Even if you only want to take a look around without buying, you will still be welcome: admission is free of charge. On the other hand, a delicious snack, hot soup or refreshing glass of champagne at the bar in the Kornschütte may not be free, but nevertheless very affordable.
An appropriate accompanying programme has not been neglected either: on Saturday evening Simon Chen and Simon Libsig extend an invitation to a poetry slam in the cellar at Neustahl, and on Sunday morning, a book launch will be held in the Kornschütte.
