The Legionnaires Way is all about history and archaeology. And it is anything other than boring: equipped with a Roman passport and all sorts of cool equipment you can experience the everyday life of a Roman legionnaire and have fun, as well.
That the Romans were once in Gaul, we all know now, at least since they were given a beating by Asterix and Obelix. The only Roman legionnaire‘s camp in Switzerland is to be found in Windisch/AG (Vindonissa). Here young and old can wander the Legionnaires Way and experience how once the Romans lived.
On the fun way round the “Become a Roman” path, we can all become legionnaires. Equipped with a new identity and Roman passport, playing cards and play plan, an audio guide and legionnaire‘s rucksack, young and old would-be Romans solve the riddle of the god Neptune at each of eight originally-designed stations. With a little imagination, you can enjoy a career as part of the Legion. If you want to be more thoughtful about it, choose the path of discovery and learn exciting details uncovered during more than 100 years of Vindonissa research.

Particularly eye-catching are the true-to-life reconstructions of legionnaires quarters built in wood and clay. You can even spend the night there if you would not rather stay in the BEST WESTERN Hotel …
